PREVIOUS MEETINGS

 

January 2014 :  WI member and RHS trained horticulturalist Rowena Lipfriend helped to us to demystify Pruning and gave us her Pruning by numbers schedule so now we can tackle all routine pruning throughout the year.

 

February 2014: 'Bristol Monks and Bones'  Jane Newley. We learned about Bristol' s religious archaelogical heritage with maps illustrating where all those historic buildings were and what is on those sites now.

 

March 2014 : Sweet Cumin Indian Cookery demo with Bini Ludlow who talked about her culinary journey around India and cooked a couple of mouthwatering curries for us to try. Bini also runs a cookery school www.sweetcumin.co.uk.

 

April 2014: A Salsa class with Lee and his partner Anna. We had a demonstration and a chance to try out the moves.

 

May 2014 : Quiz night and Resolution evening (please note this is earlier, the 3rd week in May due to half term)

 

June 2014 : Henri (DPE resident) believes that for the last 11 years she has had one of the best jobs …….working for the National Trust buying stationery and greetings cards to be sold in their gift shops.

 

Henri shared a few of the really interesting and quirkier things she learnt about the Trust and its properties and shared some sample goodies with us

 

July 2014 : Jeff Bishop gave us another wonderful insight into the development of Westbury Park with a walk around some of the more recent ly built areas.

 

August 2014:No meeting

 

September 2014 : Drumming with Simon Fish. We used all sorts of tins and plastic containers to make a tremendous noise and thump out a great rythm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

November 2014: Cherril McCartney explained how to compose and create flower arrangements in varying styles using a variety of home-grown and bought flowers and foliage. She then constructed an arrangement to demonstrate these methods. Once completed she showed how with small changes the arrangement could be put into bowls of varying heights and styles to suit any occasion.

By the end of the evening most of her sample arrangements had been bought and the hall smelt beautiful!

 

December 2014: Carol Singing in Westbury Park raising money for One25. Followed by mince pies and mulled wine at Westmoreland Hall
